How to Choose a Blender

Mar 19

There is no doubt that the reason why you’re here is because you have made up your mind to buy a blender or replace the old one. Choosing a blender is that important because you need to ensure that you’re no investing in the wrong kitchen appliance. There are many blenders in the market. Before you buy anyone of them, consider these five or so things.

The Containers

This is the part where you put in your food to be blended. Blender containers are made from light but durable plastics that can withstand pressure and impact. Many people are not too keen about glass containers anymore because of the durability of plastics. You have to decide what size of carriage you want and ensure it is made from BPA free plastics. Blenders are either round or square, so you have to decide which to pick. Metal containers look cool also; it’s just that you can’t see what is inside during blending.

Operation

Blenders generally come with two operation options; variable and automatic. If you love to take control of your blender speed you should consider a blender with variable speed. But if you just want to press a button and allow it to do its work, your choice should be blenders with automatic control.

Wattage

This is also one of the most important aspects of a blender, so much that manufacturers always include it in their advertisement. Most blenders usually come with around 300 to 1,500 watts. The more the wattage the greater the power of the blender. If you’re intending to use the blender for soups and smoothies, you can save money and go for low wattage blenders between 300 and 700 watts. But if you want to blend vegetables, nuts, ice and other solid food materials then you should go for the high watt blenders.

Speed Options

Blenders come with speed options ranging from 2 to 20. The speed capability of blenders is very much dependent on their wattage. Which means the purpose of the blender should also be put into considerations. Choose a blender with variable speed options so you will have the power to control it the way you want. You should also consider purchasing a blender with pulse option so you can have more control over your blending.

Noise Level

There is nothing like a quiet blender. But research shows that some blenders are quieter than others. Blender noise levels are measured in decibels, ranging between 80 to 100 decibels. If have issues with blender noise or infants in the house, you can purchase a sound enclosure that can greatly reduce blender noise.

Warranties

Some years back, manufacturers of blenders only offer one year warranty. But that has changed now. With the introduction of new technologies, the best blender manufacturers now offer up to 7 years warranty. So, please take note.

You should also look out for blenders with special features like pre-programmed cycles and pulse. Blenders also come in either multiple blades or two blades which doesn’t really make any difference.
